BIOGRAPHY
David Salkin is a musician, singer-songwriter, film composer, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and mixer.
In 2023 and 2024, he toured with Zazie on her Air Tour and Nouvel Air Tour. He recently composed the original score for the TV film Meurtre en Périgord Vert, directed by Muriel Aubin—an upcoming episode in the popular Meurtres à... series, scheduled for broadcast later this year.
His other recent scores include Meurtres à Montauban, also directed by Muriel Aubin and aired in September 2024, Petit Ange, directed by Christian Bonnet and starring Anny Duperey, Alexia Barlier, and Arnaud Binard, and three episodes of the acclaimed TV series Alex Hugo, again directed by Aubin and starring Samuel Le Bihan and Lionnel Astier.
In addition to composing for television, David wrote and performed the song Oh Frozen Love, featured in Le Prix de la Liberté, which has now surpassed 766,000 streams on Spotify. He also wrote Let the Healing Begin, featured in La Voie de l’Esprit and performed by Sandra Nkaké.
Born into an artistic family, David began playing percussion at the age of five, adding drums and guitar by the age of nine. At just fifteen, he embarked on his first national tour as a professional drummer with Pierre Vassiliu.
Over the years, David has collaborated both live and in the studio with a wide range of leading artists including Raoul Petite, Jacques Higelin, Alain Bashung, Zazie, Maurane, Stephan Eicher, Florent Pagny, Nolwenn Leroy, Chris Spedding, and film composer Eric Serra (The Fifth Element, GoldenEye, Nikita, Lucy). He was also a member of the house band for major television shows such as Star Academy and The Voice.
In the late 1990s, he moved to the UK to deepen his songwriting and production skills, co-writing Like an Angel with Khadja Nin for her album released on Miles Copeland’s ARK 21 label. He also collaborated with Luis Jardim (The Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney) on the project 16B with avant-garde artist Omid, performing live on the BBC’s Jo Whiley Show and across various European venues.
Now based in Paris, David has designed his recording studio as a creative instrument in itself—enabling fast, intuitive workflows and blending acoustic and electronic textures through real-time processing. This space is central to his work as a film composer and as a producer of original music and songs.
